Registration for new recreation classes offered by Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) starts Feb. 4. More than 400 classes in art, music, nature, fitness, special interest subjects, and adult sports leagues and aquatics programs will be offered starting in March. These programs provide opportunities for social interaction and learning, exercise and recreation, and growth and relaxation for preschool-aged children to adults.

This magazine is not only full of information about fee-based classes and sports leagues, but also free activities for youth, teens and senior citizens offered throughout the city for all residents to access.”
“Look for the publication in your mailbox, stop by your local library or park community center to pick one up, or find the digital version online.” said Parks, Recreation and Marine Director Gerardo Mouet. “This issue is full of information about upcoming indoor soccer leagues for youth, new classes, registration information for summer day camps, and information about the El Dorado Nature Center that will celebrate its 50th Anniversary this year.”
Many new classes will be offered for various ages, such as:
-Preschool: Petit Ballet; Tiaras and Tutus (dance introduction); Amigos and Bamboleo Bebe (Spanish language immersion); B-Ballers Hoop School, and Little Ballers Next Level (basketball); Intro to Sports; and Tiny Tykes (soccer).
-Youth: Super Hero Engineering using LEGO materials (April 22-26); Ballet/Tap Combo; Prima Ballet; Starz of Jazz (jazz dance); Local Animals and Human Interaction; Dragons, Magic & Response to Literature Essays; and Tee Ball Skillz.
-Adults: “Top Flight on ICE” (learn to ice skate); Artist Walk In; Beyond Beginning Photography; Portrait Workshop; Transforming Photos into Paintings; Watercolor! Pure and Simple; 2 Step and Swing; Adult Tap; Fashion Makeup, a two-part series (career exploration); Guided Autobiography; Aerobics Lite; Affirmations and Hatha Yoga; CSI—Cardio Sculpt Low-Impact Aerobics; Yoga for Health and Wellness; Zumba® en Español; Guava Groove Ukulele; and Horse Fun.
There are three easy ways to register beginning Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, including: Visiting lbparks.org and clicking on “Online Registration” under “LB RecConnect”, calling (562) 570-3111, visiting the Registration Reservations Office at 2760 Studebaker Rd., anytime from Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
